My Pronouns


Pronouns
LI: To change nouns to pronouns

The strongman could not lift the weights.
They (the weights) were too heavy for him (the strongman).

Pronouns are words which take place of nouns.

I       we     us      you      he      him      her      she       it         they    them


Replace the words in red with pronouns:

  1. My mum bought a new dress.It cost she a lot of money.✓✓

  1. The children had some sweets. They ate them before school.✓

  1. Jane has two dogs. she looks after them well.✓✓

  1. Mr Bass has a fishing boat. he goes fishing on the lake in it.✓

  1. The boys helped the old lady.They carried the lady’s bag for her.✓✓



Highlight all the pronouns in the text in yellow:

Harry and Emma went camping. They took a tent with them.The two children looked for a good spot to pitch the tent. “Shall we stop here?” Harry asked, as he put down the backpack by the side of the river. Emma agreed so they unpacked the tent and put it up in no time. “I hope the weather stays fine,” Emma said. She pointed to some grey clouds above. “Hmmm. They do look nasty,” Harry replied.  The tent looked good enough and they were soon inside it. Theytook out some sandwiches to eat. They were just about to start on them when the rain began. “Oh no! Here it comes!” Emma exclaimed. “I hope the tent is waterproof,” she added.


Write 3 more sentences and continue the story. Highlight the pronouns you use in yellow.Then when they turned around and walked into the tent. They wernt getting wet. Then harry and Emma finished their sandwiches and waited for the rain to stop.      




Complete these sentences by finding the missing pronoun. Remember to read your sentences out loud to make sure they make sense.

These are my pronouns that I've changed from nouns. As you can see I worked really hard and got most of the answers right.
