Emma agreed so they unpacked the tent and put it up in no time. “I hope the weather stays fine,” Emma said. She pointed to some grey clouds above. “Hmmm. They do look nasty,” Harry replied.  The tent looked good enough and they were soon inside it. Theytook out some sandwiches to eat. They were just about to start on them when the rain began. “Oh no! Here it comes!” Emma exclaimed. “I hope the tent is waterproof,” she added.

Write 3 more sentences and continue the story. Highlight the pronouns you use in yellow. Then when they turned around and walked into the tent. They wernt getting wet. Then harry and Emma finished their sandwiches and waited for the rain to stop.

Poem Reflection on Flander's Field.

Remembrance Poppies

Poppies are forever linked with Anzac Day, dating back to WW1. They are a worldwide symbol of remembrance for the men and women who have died serving their country. Poppies made of light cloth or paper are also woven together to form wreaths which are laid at war memorials up and down the country. The poppies are a reminder of the sacrifice - the lives lost - in war.

The red or Flanders poppy was one of the first to grow and bloom in the mud and soil of Flanders. They were made famous by Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae in his poem 'In Flanders fields'. McCrae was a Canadian medical officer who, in May 1915, had conducted the funeral service of a friend.  In a cemetery nearby, red poppies blew gently in the breeze. He saw this as a symbol of regrowth in a landscape of blood and destruction. He was upset at the death and suffering around him and wrote the verse in his notebook. Someone sent his words anonymously to the English magazine, Punch, which published them under the title 'In Flanders Fields' on 8 December 1915.

In Flanders fields the poppies grow
Between the crosses, row on row.
That mark our place; and in the sky
The Larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard among the guns below.
We are the dead.  Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders Fields
Take our quarrel with the foe
To you from failing hands we throw,
The torch be yours to hold up high.
If ye break faith with us who die,
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow,
In Flanders Fields
Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae

My time at the Museum

Finally the day has come to go to the Museum. I couldn’t wait to go. I was in Mrs Kelly’s group with Merika, Isabella, Kapri, Maliana and Phoenix. There were only two parent helper’s in our class and they were Roswell’s Nana Eva and Jarred and Cody’s dad Craig. Tiare’s Mum was supposed to come with us too. Tiare’s hands were sore from her Crutche and she had to stay home. The teacher’s that came were Mrs Heeps, Miss Paton, Mrs Strange, Mrs Colenbrander, Mrs Kelly, Miss Sayers, and Mrs Prasad. When we got there we had morning tea and we had to go to the toilet. Chantelle got stuck in the toilet because the lock was stuck, but then Mrs Kelly helped her to get out. Once we had eaten, our group went to the weird and wonderful room. There were millions of cockroaches in the weird and wonderful room. After that we went to see the Moa and ostrich skeletons, and their egg’s. Then we went to the Land and sea room. There was a big fake shark, a crayfish and there were starfish in the tank. When I first saw the crayfish I thought that it was fake but then Maliana told me that it was real. After we had been to the land and sea room we went to the Natural Discovery room. There was a Kiwi and a Kauri tree. Then we went to the volcano room in the volcano room. Isabella was scared because she hadn’t been there before but Pheonix was really excited. When the room shook lots of people screamed. then we went to have lunch. We had lunch outside. When most of the room 5 and 6 people had finished they went to play bull rush. They got told to go back to their classes. When we went back into the Museum our group got the camera off Miss Paton so we could take some photos. when we got inside we went to the Natural History room. In the Natural History room there were lots of things like hats, bags, dresses, necklaces, carvings and lots of other things. We took lot of photos of the things. After that it was time to go back to school. Jarred and Cody’s group got told to wait outside but it was raining so they came back in. Everybody had to wait, then we went back to school on the bus.

On Friday November the 18th it was Athletics day for Panmure Bridge School. The sports that we had were High jump, jump jam, 400 metre, Discus, Relays and shot Put.

I was in the 10 year old group we had jump jam first. Paenganui and Trinity went on the stage and started to be silly and everyone was laughing at them. Mrs Heeps was doing Jump Jam then we went to High jump with Miss Paton and Miss Sayers. The hand we write with was the side we had to go on. Jarred, Cody and Piripi were the highest Jumpers because they came first, second and third. Cody came first Jarred came second and Piripi came third. We went to Discus with Miss Salmon, Miss Jina, Mrs Hiddleston and Shaun. When the girls did the discus some of them had to do it through morning tea then we went to have morning tea. After morning tea we went to relays. At relay no body wanted to race me, Livinia or Stephine because they knew that we were going to beat them. I didn’t come first, second or third because Livinia came first Stephine came second and Javanah came third. After relays we had shot put then we had the 400 metre races the five and six year olds ran once but seven and over had to run twice. After the 400 metre race we finished Athletics and went to have Lunch.
